About this property
RARE FIND-TWO COTTAGES 0N ONE LOT IN THE VILLAGE. Built to last from "old growth" lumber, these two cottages have many good years remaining. Each cottage has their own address, their own carport, catchment tank and cesspool. As noted in the 1993 Volcano Village Historic Building Inventory by Boone Morrison, Architect, "the houses were built by a Mr. Horner, said to have been the Hawaii County School Superintendent. The smaller house on the right was built for his sister." Per Boone, Volcano has the highest number of historic homes in Hawaii. Historic is defined by those built prior to 1950. The 1930 "red cottage", 19-4144 Haunani Rd., is a 1 bedroom/1 bath of 803 sqft with single car carport. This cottage is truly an updated plantation style home with useable area under the house including a half bath, storage, laundry area and large work space. Fresh paint in and out plus kitchen and bath upgrades add value. The 1941 "white cottage" , 19-4150 Haunani Rd., is a 2 bed/1 bath of 864 sqft. plus a 2 car carport. A complete remodel in 2025-2026 included ceilings, flooring, lighting, cabinets, counter tops and appliances plus a new wood burning fireplace! Originally a single wall home, it is now double wall with new wiring and insulation added behind drywall interior. Wiring upgrades completed with permit by licensed electrician. Located in the heart of Volcano Village. With years of good maintenance and the recent upgrades, this property has a lot to offer a savvy Buyer. Join those of us who wouldn't live anywhere else!
